David Waldon Picks on The Beatles

Hi, I'm David. Welcome

About Me

I was born in England and raised in a USAF family. Mom was English, and Dad a Texan. At the age of 3, my parents found me picking out recognizable melodies the first time I played piano. I had a ticket to see The Beatles when I was 9, Mom wouldn't let me go-thought the screaming girls would kill me. Thanks, Mom... :) I started playing guitar when I was 12 (our piano had to be sold-we moved too much!) and am self-taught except for the year of classical guitar group classes at UNT. I led the music in my church for several years, sang with the San Antonio and Sacramento symphony choirs, the Texas Bach Choir, and also toured and co-wrote songs with Country Artist Shelley Laine - helping her achieve 5 top 40 hits. There will be more - Shelley Laine is a major talent (and close personal friend-check out her website at www.shelleylaine.com ). I played bass in the hard rock band Tripwagon, and we released an original CD. I also played bass in Mike Pritchard's Cat House Blues Band in Lubbock, Texas, and now live in Dallas. As you can tell, I believe the more you love music, the more music you love! ............................................................ ............................................With amazed thanks to my 2nd hand surgeon, Dr. Geoffrey Wiedeman. Good save indeed, as he told me the last time I saw him. After much hard work I play better now than I ever thought I could, and feel the way I can play now has to have a reason-it's meant to touch someone or do something I'll probably never know about, so I feel driven to give it exposure-please tell your friends about me! I love to play guitar and have worked up over 100 classic soft rock songs in my own style, taking an average of 15 hours per song to arrange ............................................................ ........................... I enjoy playing private parties etc. in the Dallas area, and charge reasonable rates. For more information please go to www.asimplechristmas.com named after my first album, A Simple Christmas................................................... .............................................. I was recently contacted by my old high school sweetheart, from when we were 16 in England. We've reconnected and feel we are meant to be together so we're in the process of immigrating her to Dallas so we can marry and start our family with her twin 12 year old girls and 16 year old boy. Exciting times! ............................................................ ............................................................ .................................

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: asimplechristmas.com
Band Members: David Waldon, a band of one, playing a Taylor XXX MS CE. That's the 30th Anniversary edition, affectionately called the triple X series, maple sides and back, spruce top, with built in expression electronics designed by Rupert Neve, and a venetian cutaway. Configured like this, it's probably only one of 10 or less in the world, and it plays like butter!
Influences: When I was 12 I got a 2 foot tall silver box filled with 45's from 1959. What a great introduction to music! I vividly remember seeing The Beatles live on the Ed Sullivan Show, 2/9/64, when I was 6, and I've never been the same! I love Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Elvis, early Elton John, U2, Collective Soul, Train and a lot more!
Sounds Like: David Waldon, The Beatles, Chet Atkins, James Taylor
Record Label: SLG Records
Type of Label: Indie
