I am usually a reflective, thoughtful person, sometimes I'm reserved but I talk and laugh loudly. Although I mostly occupy the 'beyond' of language, I like having conversations about God, philosophy, theology, religion, society/culture, relationships, food, synchronicity, the mystical flow that is the essence of life, bodily processes and dreams. I love Buddhist and Taoist ideas. Music is important to me. I am (mostly)vegan and pacifist in my lifestyle. I am trying to be the change I want to see in the world. I like laughing, travelling and visiting new places, watching and discussing movies, riding my bike through the streets of London, the moment of take-off in an airplane, walking in nature, dancing, meditating, yoga, baking bread, singing, swimming. I'm ridiculously healthy, except I love white wine and strong coffee. I am a dumb romantic, and I have a weakness for self-help books.
Y'all.
Anything with soul, or an edge, that touches me: Sophia, My Bloody Valentine, Pixies, Jane Siberry, Einaudi, Mozart, PJ Harvey, Coldplay, The Bees, Kathryn Williams, Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol, The Cure (because first love never dies), Neil Young, Bob Marley, Spiritualized, The Stone Roses, The Doors, The Beatles, Leonard Cohen, The Beach Boys, Cocteau Twins, Jeff Buckley, Gorecki, Nick Cave, Radiohead, The Arcarde Fire, Bright Eyes, East Indian classical music with heavy bass and breakbeats...
American Beauty, Magnolia, All or Nothing, Naked, Lost in Translation, The Station Agent, Thin Red Line, Moulin Rouge, Monsoon Wedding, The Truman Show, Everything is Illuminated
I shouldn't really; apparently the revolution will not be televised. Oh, but I just can't help myself. Lost, The Simpsons, Grey's Anatomy (I'm a girl, after all).
Philosophy, psychology, theology, critical theory, spirituality, feminist theory, psychoanalytic theory. Catcher in the Rye (my favourite), A Tree Full of Angels, Dance of the Dissident Daughter, Possessing the Secret of Joy, Siddartha, Virtuous Magic, Living Buddha/Living Christ, Extraordinary Relationships, Ian McEwan, Toni Morrison, all things Jack Kerouac.
People who inspire laughter, creativity, deep thought, or critical conversation in me; bold, courageous people who speak out against injustice - despite the consequences.
