Hidden Wave/Hi-nrg Synth Rock composer Konnoo was influenced by a new type of music that came in the mid-eighties, when where introduced various electronic and disco-pop styles. Around that time he began to experiment with self-built simple synthesizers, this interest made him later to study more about electronics and music. During his studies he composed "symphonic electronica" tracks, some of them where performed at a Finnish radio program Avaruusromua (under a different artist's name). However, in the period from 1995 to 1998 Konnoo's music has changed to be a more upbeat and energetic.
After few years of producing music in electronic genres and exposing it to listeners of MP3.com (as well as sending out few demos), Konnoo has found himself interested in the application of his studies of East Asian arts and teachings to his music, especially to the production methods. Modern music is a very technical in terms of production, so the final result can be unusual due to a great levels of freedom the technology can provide the composer with, but freedom needs means of control to have the composition to emerge in its final shape, Konnoo calls it "the production rules". This reminds Japanese Noo theater which has its own "production rules" that make it different and therefore more difficult to follow, but the art in its "roots" and "structure" remains unchanged from ancient times. While keeping in mind "powerful structures" found in Noo and some other traditional arts and practices, Konnoo developed own production methods and sound programming, in order to allow him to express the sort of "hidden energy" and "feelings" that never change in his music. This is one of the reasons to call his music Hidden Wave, main intention always been to compose quite accessible yet experimental type of music. The first such a "half-experimental" album was Mountain Path, which was distributed only via the Internet in mp3 format. In 2004 Best of Konnoo Volume 1 album was released on CD by a small independent label in Russia, introducing many important songs from the pre-Mountain Path era. Konnoo's exploration of "a different energy" in music continued, and as a result, in the same year he has finished to re-record songs from another yet unreleased album called Mazarine Cliffs. All of those tracks are full of innovative touches and completely produced by Konnoo.
Today, Konnoo has his home in Canada, the country which inspires him
to compose more music. After many years of music production and working
in different studio environments, using both "hard and
soft” electronic instruments in the writing and recording
processes, Konnoo Records label has been
established to help with music
promotion and finding right contacts. Some new exciting releases are
planned for the future, either on the label or elsewhere.
Full
with qualities of somewhat Eastern or ethnic-like textures,
Konnoo's music has all attributes usually associated with
Western
pop culture. Due to intensive use of state-of-the-art technology,
Konnoo has taught himself to do a deep programming of his synthesizers
in his search for the “resonance of mental energy”.
His
goal is to create a special refreshing music, inviting
listeners
to realize theyr own "hidden message of the song".
