About Me

James Moors uses words to paint pictures of the soul. Listeners young and old recognize their experiences and emotions reflected in his artistic, but approachable turns of phrase, charm and gentle humor. Often compared to such luminaries as Pierce Pettis, Peter Himmelman and Lyle Lovett James' songs articulate the nuances of emotion layered beneath our day to do lives. James recalls the moment he was bit by the songwriting bug. "Hearing Shawn Colvin's 'Live 88' on a frigid, late night drive through the Northwoods of Minnesota warmed me from the inside." Since that time James has been crafting songs of dark and light, life and death and the broad landscapes that lie in between.Greatly affected by the untimely death of his brother, James began his career as singer songwriter in 2000 under the moniker Sterling Waters, a name that honored his brother's life. Over the years he has criss crossed the nation sharing the stage with the likes of Peter Case, Willy Porter, and Chris Smither and selling over 5 thousand CDs independently.
