About Me
1991 - 2002
September 11, 1991: Ten years before the disaster, the Beast was born. The sonic assault was conceived by three diseased minds without names who called themselves simply K001, K010 and K011, active since 1988 with various musical projects.
Place of birth: Bari – Apulia - South Italy.
Project name: KEBABTRÄUME, from one of the most politicised song by the German electronic outfit DEUTSCH AMERIKANISCHE FREUNDSCHAFT, who were the main inspiration for the early days of KT. The name was also a tribute to the Turkish culture: in fact, Turks dominated Apulia in the 9th century.
After seventeen months closed into their laboratory, experimenting new sounds and noises, in February 1993 KT released their first demo-tape and performed live for the first time in their hometown with the help of the videomaker P.AN. for the visual part of the shows.
Soon KT was renowned as one of the earliest Italian EBM bands together with TECHNOGOD, TEMPLEBEAT, NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE and L.I.N..
Since then, KT affirmed themselves as a multimedia project involving electronic music, video-installations, hi-tech graphics. In June '93 the techno-terrorist K100 joined KT giving them a precious technical / creative help.
During the 11 years of existence, KT evolved from the electro-industrial / EBM of the early years to a personal mixture of industrial, EBM, trance and sometimes techno, becoming one of the precursors of the new trend of using trance and techno sounds / rhythms in EBM / electro-industrial music.
A good testimony of their intuitions is their only full-length album “Neural Earthquakeâ€, released in March 1996 on the cult label MINUS HABENS RECORDS (which also released works of CLOCK DVA, F242, FLA, PANKOW, DIVE, NIGHTMARE LODGE, SIGILLUM S, just to name few), sum of their experimentation during their first 4 ½ years of life.
The album was acclaimed as a “cult†record both in Europe and America and the band was considered the best Italian electronic act of the year 1996 by many Italian and European magazines (Vertigo, Side-Line, Industrial Nation, the Italian Rumore, just to name the most important ones).
The release of the record was followed by an extensive Italian tour (almost 60 dates from Oct. 1996 to Dec. 1997), which contributed to build up their “cult†status: the physical interaction between the band on stage and the audience, the anger and energy in their performance, the live high-tech sound and the shocking visuals distinguished KT from the other Italian electro bands.
In September 1998 a new demo-CDR (the second album) was released by the band itself only as a promo for European labels and Italian promoters.
In this CD KT decided to partially reveal their own identities: the band was then constituted by D. LOOP (vocals and programming) and JF FERRULLI (programming and sampling) with the contribution of the other two original members V. TRAUM (former lead vocalist and co-founder of the band together with D. LOOP) and JOE DIGIUSEPPE (former sound engineer of the band and co-writer of almost all the songs of the debut album).
The duo was aided by a new sound engineer (who worked also for the never-released second album, replacing Joe) and some other musicians coming from other gothic/electronic bands from their hometown for the new live shows (September 1998 - June2000), including the participation at two prestigious festivals as the Italian MUSICA IN NERO (sharing the stage with KIRLIAN CAMERA and SOL INVICTUS, among the others) in Trieste and the German WAVE GOTIK TREFFEN in Leipzig.
But, after the summer tour in 2000, the duo decided to split for personal incompatibilities without releasing any new album (only the track “Red Latex Jesusâ€, written by D. LOOP and V. TRAUM with other two Italian industrial projects, LIMBO and IT, was included on the compilation “Cospiratorium: The Ice Lineâ€, released by the Italian label Energeia).
Since then, D. LOOP was involved in the Italian electro-industrial band LIMBO as live keyboard player/backing vocalist and studio co-programmer/engineer.
During the Italian tour of LIMBO in March 2001, D. LOOP was invited to open with KT for the Italian dates of the German industrial band DAS ICH.
In April 2001 D. LOOP alone restarted KT for the imminent live dates supporting DAS ICH with a line-up completed by the musicians/technicians who helped him for their previous tours.
After the successful dates with DAS ICH, in May 2001 D. LOOP started from zero the works for the second album of KT, but the recordings were once again interrupted by the departure of the new sound engineer in December.
The new tracks were assembled on a new demo-CDR which gained the attention of Italian and European record labels, promoters and press.
A new Italian tour in May 2002 supporting the well-known electro gothic band L’AME IMMORTELLE and a summer tour in some countries of the Eastern Europe (ended with a successful gig in Belgrade, Serbia) were the last memorable efforts of D. LOOP as KT.
A last concert in Apulia (where all started 11 years before), with the temporary comeback of co-founder member V. TRAUM, was the last action of KT.
October 4, 2002: The beast was killed by its own creators.
2006
May 19, 2006: The phoenix resurrects from its own ashes and returns under a new, fresh, but not less lethal, skin.
D. LOOP (active in the meanwhile as producer / remixer under the name KTRÄUME, as sound technician in his U.F.T. studio and as DJ) joins forces with V. TRAUM (former co-founder and lead singer of KT, who left the band in April 1998 after being its front-man for more than six years).
KEBABTRÄUME is preparing a completely new album which will include brand new tracks together with some reworked unreleased material by the old KEBABTRÄUME and will include some SPECIAL guests.
KT will start touring again, when the recording of the album and the works on their new web site will be completed.
The live performance will include the new material plus some old KEBABTRÄUME classics, trying to give a personal interpretation on old and new styles as EBM, electro-industrial, hard-trance and keeping an eye open towards the new electronic experimentation.
2007
Moreover V. TRAUM and D. LOOP start in March 2007 a brand new project called K-MENSCHEN (in English K-MEN) with a more atmospheric sound than KEBABTRÄUME.
You can hear I FEEL SENSATIONS, the first track of K-MENSCHEN, on this space.
D. LOOP PRODUCTIONS AND COLLABORATIONS
Among 2002 and 2006 D. LOOP worked in studio with ARTICA (2002) for the remastered version of their debut album OMBRA E LUCE (Decadance Records, IT), with KIRLIAN CAMERA (2003) for their studio album INVISIBLE FRONT (Trisol, DE), with FIRST BLACK POPE (2003) for the EVOL ONE track on the compilation CRYONICA TANZ VOL. 3 (Cryonica, UK), with LIMBO for the last album COMPENDIUM: THE LIGHT FALL (2004 - Cursed Land - IT) and the anthologies ESOTERIC BODY MUSIC (2006 - Cursed Land) and EARLY WORKS 1984-1987 (2007 - Abraxas - IT) and with KINETIX (2004) for the album GESTALTSYSTEM 01: POSSIBLE FORMS (Monochrome Vision - RU).
