About Me

DJ David BoNobO.... is host of "¡SouLbRosO!" on the infamous radio website KILLRADIO.org. As a music journalist, he has interviewed many important artists on the scene including Celso Pina, Lila Downs, Antibalas, Rocky Dawuni, Sidestepper, Mandrill, and many others. When not busy with his program, David BoNobO spends his time with family and friends in his second home in Oaxaca, Mexico where he hopes to one day open a music studio. He is currently wrangling together the final songs on a benefit compilation to help assist the Guadalupe Musalem Scholarship Fund (a non-profit organization funding the education of indigenous women in the state of Oaxaca, Mex). The CD will feature well known international artists such as Lila Downs, Sidestepper and Antibalas alongside regional U.S. favorites Mezklah, Fosforo, Future Pigeon and Very Be Careful. ............................................................ ............................................................ ....LISTEN TO "¡SouLbRosO!" Band Members: BONOBO: A species of chimpanzee living in the mountainous jungles of the Congo in the heart of Africa. Sometimes referred to as "pygmie chimps," they are the closest genetic link to humans, and generally regarded as more intelligent than their other ape cousins. In fact, they are not known to have physical violence. In their world, the females generally hold the dominant social position, and all conflict is resolved through sexual negotiation. ...... Sounds Like: It is the sound of the voice of the ancestors invoking us as we invoke them. It is the ancient, blissful, and forgotten wine of wonderment served from & preserved within The 21st Century "One Love" wine skin. It is a call to arms and a call to peace. It is the sound of nothing, & it sounds like nothing you've heard. It is the sound of you. It is the sound of me. And it is the sound of all that surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds us together with the dust of stars that are never ending. Open your ears, and sharpen your mind. Do you feel it? It is the sound of "Music For Your Mother."
Record Label: Uh, Record Label? They still exist?
