Javier Cabanillas - Conga Player, Band Leader, Binational Instructor
Javier Cabanillas is originally from the SF Bay Area and has been residing in the Tijuana/San Diego Border Region since 2000. His studies include African Drumming Ensembles, Afro Cuban and Latin Jazz Ensembles. He teaches at various cultural and educational institutions in San Diego and Tijuana, such as Sweetwater High School in National City, Loma Verde Recreation Center in Chula Vista, Music Instructor for YMCA, Ensemble Instructor at El Lugar del Nopal Independent Cultural Center in Tijuana and Antigua Bodega de Papel Independent Cultural Center in Downtown Tijuana.
Cabanillas has performed at various cultural centers and festivals, recorded two CDs; one in 2007 and toured Mexico, and his Solo Demo in 2008. His current project is his Latin Jazz Band, CABANIJAZZ PROJECT...
