The Zonnhaider´s Club

GALAO EP out now!!!

About Me

It began with their very first scream...
Maybe a bit later - when they were five years old and learned to whistle.
At ten - when they plucked guitar strings.
At eighteen - when they rummaged around in sample banks.
Or maybe even later in 2006 - when Martin decided after several EP’s and metamorphoses to open the club for one more.
So Christopher and Martin met in Weimar in this autumn 2006 to imagine it was spring. Over winter Martin and Christopher grew songs like "Treatment Of The Past", "Tonight", "Jaded Travellers", "The Forthcoming Spring" and others.
Finally they came out of the b11-Studios with an album called "The Forthcoming Spring". Most of these songs are based on Martin’s sleepy ghosts that had to be awaken by Christopher’s voice.
Martin and Christopher know each other for a long time. They went to the same school and met on stage at a school's ceremony - one with the guitar, the other with a French horn. A silence of four years got broken and they met again giving an audio-visual reading in May 2004 which they called "22 minutes for the beautiful restless". After this, both of them had to face their own future. While Martin played his Zonnhaider-Songs together with his old band colleagues Johannes and Christian Döpping and went to Portugal and Spain and returned to study in Weimar, Christopher lived in Leipzig and Berlin and also finally moved to Weimar.
After only half a year - in April 2007 - due to the organizing hyperactivity of Discorporate Records and the support of Johannes and Christian Döpping, who appeared as drummer and guitar player once more, they had a concert each week promoting "The Forthcoming Spring" which saw the light of the day 2 months later.
Considering their original sound, Martin and Christopher formed the club anew in May 2007 taking in a specialist for electronic beats and sounds: Christoph Höfferl (hoever / bogdan / nosral flow) who already did excellent remixes of some of Martin’s songs before. In 2008 another one joined the club: Maria Schwerdtner, providing female vocals and bass to the club.
As they all look back, the future cannot be different but open.
Some voices about 'The Forthcoming Spring':
"One of the surprises of 2007. The Forthcoming Spring of The Zonnhaider..s Club is like a dreary trip in the night train from Cologne to Berlin, like an endless unsecured jump from the sky, a departure of dusty trains of thought. [...] The debut of The Zonnhaider’s Club reaches immensely for his victims, carefully, but unerringly."
Alternative Nation – 8/10 points
„Here comes VERY difficult material!“
Klangschau – 8/10 points
"The Forthcoming Spring spins tales of the standstill of time. This music retells the world again.[...] Slow motion studies of the world. A loud whisper."
Plattentests – 7/10 points
"The Zonnhaiders Club sounds a bit like The Album Leaf, The Doors and Savoy Grand, and those aren't the worst references. Melancholic, sad and yet sanguine - the slowmotion walks so slowly that you can be sure not to miss something."
Noisy Neighbours - 12/15 points
„The first official release on Discorporate Records proves, that it's all about great great music, that delivers a deep insight. So amazingly deep, that it sometimes could be oppressive. The black-white cover announces a forthcoming spring and the music of Christopher Schön and Martin Ketelhut invites you to an anachronistic journey through this and another world. Richly orchestrated and excellently mixed you'll get driven through timbres, who after repeated listens unfold much more nuances, than the cover lets suppose. Indietronic melancholic waterways for hushed hours of inwardness."
