About Me

So I think the time has come to talk a bit about why I write music. In addition, why I play metal. It took me a long time to finally get it. By that I mean it took me a long time to understand what metal is about.
I think its hard to make generalizations about such a diverse genre, but to me metal is about creating a form of expression that most will not understand. Most will pass it off as evil, misguided, deluded, or malcontent. Which is fine by me. To me, metal is a way to differentiate. A way to deviate from the norm that we have all been so forced to accept.
For most of us, we are told early in life that we must fit in to a mold. We must accept what we see, relate cause and effect, and conform and respond accordingly. To some degree this is unavoidable, and will affect us for the entirety of our lives, but conforming is not the only way out. Nor should conformation be considered a cop out. It all works out in the end.
Throughout this album, you will notice I am constantly drawn to the theme of balance. Without darkness, there can be no light. Without pain there can be no pleasure. Without balance there can be nothing. As spiritually aware beings we are confined to a set of universal laws that cannot be questioned, challenged or broken. Things of this nature are not our choice. There are, however things we can choose. But our time is short. We must choose wisely.
Without the presence of truth, how can one choose? Would one be mislead if they we're to make choices based on false belief? I think so. This is partly related to the theme in my album which states that the search for the truth is the plight of mankind.
Ultimately, I am not trying to give a discourse on my beliefs, but more likely i'm trying to offer an explanation as to why I create. And to why I choose music as my medium. And more specifically heavy metal.
There are those that will never see the truth. I do not know the truth. I hope someday to feel that I have found it. I find the more that I learn and experience, the closer I feel to the truth. Fortunately, the ones that choose to close their mind to the truth will never hear my voice anyway.
So in closing, I believe this album is a worthwhile effort set forth in a material world. I believe it is an offering of great inspiration. As sure as we are "in the flesh" we are prone to error. To say you are immune is foolish. The most you can do is try to do what you know to be right, and from that place there can be no mistakes.
Best Wishes,
Julian
Of all the parts that make up the human anatomy, the heart is the only part of the body that is commonly associated with sympathy or empathy. When a heart becomes blackened, there is no more room for such feelings...

What is Heavy Metal?

Playing metal is a lifestyle as much as being a musician is. That being said, I would like to comment on some trends that have become so engrained that I don't think anyone is listening to the music ...
