absonous (out of tune) was formed August 2003 in Invercargill by Music and Sound Engineer students. We went through a few line up changes and ended up being a 3 piece, with Huia on Bass and Vocals, Sez on Guitar and Vocals and Anthea on Drums. Our music has been described as punk/pop with a humorous tint. Playing originals and covers ranging from L7 to Donna Summer to Ramones; and a 1080 version of a song Alison Durbin covered. We played shows at local live venues Tillerman’s and The Thirsty Kiwi, as well as the Muso’s club and at the Festival Cherrystock in October 2003. A highlight was at Sez’s 20th when we got to play with BZP and Hatred. We have recorded five songs over the span of a year at S.I.T. All lyrics and music are written by Huia, who gets her inspiration for songs from random and funny things that happen in day to day life. The group disbanded in September 2004. Sez is currently in Auckland tutoring guitar, and working on getting a metal band together. Huia and Anthea are still in Invercargill and had started a 4 piece band called the sallys-which has now become a 3 piece called Mr Shickadance, in pretty much the same styles as absonous. We will randomly get back together and do gigs, either acoustic or electric and 2 piece or 3 piece or whatever really...
