Well I guess my life revolves around going to the gym with my mates(bodybuilding/UFC), working, computer games and fast cars. I don't know if that is bad or good - but I'm happy with myself with it so.. Its sort of a zen thing for me because in some aspects I have found what makes me happy.
On Quality
I like quality in things. Like I grew up and Yes I know my parents tried and stuff but I want the best. Like Nice hotels, nice restaurants, Good Suits. Good Shirts. Good Moments. I like the whole special occasion thing.
On Sport:
I love sparring and that moment of clarity when you get in the ring and nothing else matters. People who remember me at school will remember me not actually liking school sport at all and thus would prolly think my life is the opposite now. I guess at school they didnt encourage the kind of sports I like. Somehow at the age of 18 I started doing weights and martial arts and sooner or later studied Ninjutsu under Justin Johnson as part of the BBD. After a few years this led me on to study Jeet Kune Do JKD under one of my all time best friends Yann Lesouef. Im not really into symbolism so it was a breath of fresh to not have to ware belt and 15 century japanese costumes to fight in. I really enjoy the fun sparring aspect as it keeps it real.
Yann went back to live in France, and I just did weights for a while with the odd boxing session.
I started do vale tudo with 'Tap or Snap' and am really enjoying getting back into. Especially the sparring.
I go to a rough gym in Kirkby which as an amazing atmosphere. Its a mix of MMA/Boxing and Weight training. Its almost like a club because everyknows each other and helps each other in an interesting yet variety of ways.
Guess the reason I like Fight club the movie is:
a) Its about how modern life is making us less than we are capable of. The media has made us what we are. We do what they say. we wear what they tell us is sociably acceptable. Yet we are the descendants of thugs and warriors which shaped a world. Now brought down to wandering around Ikea looking for a matching SOFA.. WTF.) I want to be more than that.
In short - "We're a generation of men raised by women. I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need. "
b) I have trouble sleeping (ala insomnia) and its the first film which I could relate to about it.
Quote
"When you have insomnia, you're never really asleep... and you're never really awake."
And thats so true, Its not that you arnt tired. You are permantly tired but cant sleep. Your life is passing you by - one second at a time - don't waste it.c) Anger management issues :)
"I felt like destroying something beautiful. "
