Dj Deaf

Marco Piedimonte was born in Naples in 1975. He starts very young taking part to the emergent Neapolitan scene of electronic music helping organizing the first progressive nights for all over the Campania. But very soon, sharing the great and explosive communication energy of that parties, he realizes that music is his real interest, the only thing who really spurs his fantasy. His first appearance was in 1995 as Marco P., soon becoming one of the more popular resident djs playing in the most innovative clubs at present, the Waikiky and the Old River. In the middle of Nineties, when electronic music was emerging as “alternative” to dance music, the excitement of the young Neapolitan people was very strong. they felt like being totally part of that cultural innovative movement called, by the modern sociologic studies, “Underground”. Being always in contact with the musical tendencies of London and Detroit, the promoters of the electronic music scene in Naples started organizing parties with the most famous djs of the moment. In the 11th of May Marco Piedimonte, alternating his dj sets between Old River and several after parties organized everywhere in his region, performed with Derrik May in the Cube club. Between 1996 and 1997, when the progressive music evolved itself in the techno music, Marco was resident dj of the famous club Dynamic Area, performing with Charlic Hall, Ilana, Marc Sinclair, Basement Jaxx live, Justin Berkmann. In the winter of 1998 at Blackroses in Naples, Marco’s dj set was opening the nights to the most famous djs representative of the techno Neapolitan scene Rino Cerrone, Marco Carola, Gaetek and Danilo Vigorito. In 1998 Marco played at many memorable nights close to Claude Young, dj Pierre, dj Marky. On November in 1999 he was always on scene performing with Kelly Hand and, the 31st of July, with Ben Sims. The 6th of May 2000 at the first Jim Master’s Italian performance, Marco adopted for the first time the ironic name Deaf, his current stage name. In the 2000 a short tour in the Spanish Costa Brava, then it’s only a sequence of important appearances for dj Deaf till now. From Bandulu to Stanny Franssen, dj Rush, Dave Clarke, Secret Cinema, Mathew Jonson and more in the biggest musical events of the South Italy close to artist as John Acquaviva, Billy Nasty, Luke Slater, Umek the special Marco’s dj set, with his peculiar vibrating sound full of refined sonorities and his irresistible groove, has always enriched the Parthenopean techno music scene. In the 2002 the need of a creative growth drove Marco to frequent recording studios and so he began to use the first machineries to create a new expressive course alternative to the dj set. In the summer of the same year together with the well-known bassist and dub master Alessandro Aspide, Marco realized the “Detail” project, a “transversal” musical production. Although having different musical roots and background, Marco and Alessandro match each-other on the plan of digital expression and, exciting by the same desire to discover new sonorities, they begin to work together realizing “Detail”.

Marco Piedimonte aka dj Deaf partecipa, fin da giovanissimo, alla evoluzione della scena elettronica napoletana. Nel 1995 esordisce come Marco P., affermandosi ben presto come dj resident dei club più innovativi del momento. A metà degli anni Novanta, quando nella dance music si delinea l’ “alternativa” elettronica, Marco è parte integrante del circuito underground partenopeo che guarda a quel che succede a Londra e a Detroit. Tra il 1996 e il 1997, quando la progressive evolve nella techno music, Marco è dj resident dello storico Dinamik Area. Da allora le sue performance aprono a quelli che attualmente sono i più quotati esponenti del techno sound made in Naples e ai grandi protagonisti della scena internazionale. Il 6/05/2000 in occasione della prima esibizione italiana di Jim Master, Marco assume l’ ironico nome d’arte Deaf. Dal 2000, dopo il breve tour estivo che lo vede esibirsi nei più esclusivi club della costa Brava spagnola, è tutto un susseguirsi di date importanti promosse da International Talent ( HYPERLINK "http://www.talentbookings.org" www.talentbookings.org) e da Loose Club entrainment (www. looseclub.com) Al fianco di artisti del calibro di Jeff Mills, John Acquaviva, Billy Nasty, Luke Slater, Umek, Dave Clarke, Mathew Jonson, Alex Under, e tanti altri, i dj set siglati “Deaf” arricchiscono il panorama della techno music partenopea per la singolarità del suo vibrante sound, ricco di sonorità ricercate e di irresistibile groove. Nel 2002, realizza “Detail”, progetto musicale “trasversale” che lo vede al fianco del noto bassista e dub master napoletano, Alessandro Aspide. Sulla via della sperimentazione dub e sul piano dell'espressione digitale le esperienze di Alessandro incrociano quelle di Marco e definiscono il particolarissimo sound di “Detail”. Dopo il successo di "We are Detail", prima uscita edita da Loose records, prestigiosa etichetta sperimentale gestita da Rino Cerrone , ed il positivo riscontro del mercato on line con l'uscita di "Otto punto" sulla label Minisketch, il nuovo singolo "Change", mixato nella nuova compilation del Fabric da Marco Carola e pubblicato ancora su Loose Rec., consacra Detail come uno dei prodotti discografici più interessanti ed innovativi della scena techno contemporanea. Parallelamente, "Full one", composta da Marco Piedimonte e remixata da Tom Clark - In minimal 001- conferma ancora una volta l'interesse internazionale per le produzioni techno made in Naples.
