A cut above the rest

About Me

DJ Rich T started his DJ career at Aldershot Ice Rink, back in 1988 doing Children’s Disco on Saturday mornings 10:00 to 12:00 and also Evening Disco 19:30 to 22:30 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights. He left in February 1991 and soon after the Ice Rink closed.
Being frustrated at not spinning discs, he started up a low power pirate radio called "Channel 41" in August 1991 in the Aldershot area.
It was on air between 106 and 108 MHz FM and spent most of it's time at 106.5 MHz. The broadcasting times were 21:00 to 22:00 on Monday to Thursday nights.
DJ Rich T was also a CB user and this influenced the name of the radio. On a CB, there are 40 channels used to talk. So when he launched a pirate radio, he called it Channel 41, as it did not exist as a CB radio channel.
So Channel 41 was named and considered "A cut above the rest".
Channel 41 had a lot of help from DJ Mystery , making jingles, performing range testing and doing the publicity, many thanks to him for doing all that.
Channel 41 ceased transmitting in November 1991.
The transmitter that Channel 41 used was then handed over to DJ Mystery and he started up Radio Energy , a very successful pirate radio that broadcasted for many years and grew way bigger than Channel 41.
DJ Rich T has since occasionally DJ'd during 2006 and 2007 as a guest of DJ Mystery, on his Pick N Mix Show, which is a streamed live broadcast across the internet from SSRadio . The next appearance of DJ Rich T on the Pick N Mix Show is Sunday the 21st of October, 2pm to 4pm UK Time. The Man behind Channel 41

As this myspace page is designed to be about Channel 41, there isn't a lot about myself (DJ Rich T) as a person, so I thought I'd put this blog up with stuff about me.My day job is a network engineer ...
