If you’re taking the time to read this, I appreciate it.
Check out my big brother's myspace www.myspace.com/gus_bobo. Add him, he's just as cool and hip and down with the 'youngstas' as any other person :op
My stage name is MisBehaviour or Shenanigans; my nickname is Missy; my government isn’t really important right now.
I’m a DJ first, dancer second and an MC third but I put as much effort in one as I do all 3. I’ve been dancing since I was about 3 and dance at Pineapple Studios on a regular. Here’s how it started.
Norwich, University of East Anglia, studying Accountancy and Law. I joined a ‘turntable society the beginning of 2000 where about 30 people had an hour to mix on 1 set of turntables. Straight afterwards I went out and bought a set of Numark TT’s (the chrome ones). 2 weeks later I swapped these for a second hand pair of Technic 1210’s, which I still have today. From this things got moving.
I would travel back down to London on a regular and because I didn’t drive back then, I would take my decks and all my records on the train with me (commitment!). I found out that a boy on my road was an mc and also in a crew so I met up with them (Riddla, Flava and DJ Impi) and joined Dark Angelz. My first show was on Image FM every Sunday where I mixed, 4 x 4, 2 step and vocal garage. We then moved on to Freeze FM and the lineup changed as well as the name. DJ Impi left and DJ Wire and MC Marco joined making Devilz Advocates. During this time we were doing promotions at Area Nightclub which brought in twice the capacity we could handle. We booked the biggest names back then like Wayne Wonder, Roll Deep, So Solid, N.A.S.T.Y.and through this I met a lot of people. Two of the most important being Jammer and Sniper E.
I got talking to Sniper and after a few weeks we had our own show on Freeze. By this time I was mixing, R n B Hip Hop and Bashment as well as garage and grime. This lead to me joining Special Delivery with Major Ace, Bashy, Redrum (amongst others) and Flirta D was rolling with us at the time. It was a bit hectic being in 2 crews but management told me I had to make a decision. That decision was made for me when I had a bit of a bust up with one of the members of D.A. (don’t worry, we’re cool now) and I became a full member of Special D. I played up and down the country in some of the biggest clubs and events including Sidewinder, Garage Fever and Eskimo Dance.
Unfortunately, the beginning of 2004 saw some big changes. In January the powers that be restricted my freedom between 7pm and 7am for 6 months! I couldn’t do radio or any raves in fact I didn’t want to know anything that was happening in the scene cos I couldn’t be part of it so I locked it off completely.
I channelled that anger into something constructive and started writing. Special D were no more so I was writing for myself. I guess it was a blessing in disguise as it lead to me collaborating with Neckle Camp and doing my first single and video ‘Better Know’. I’m working on a mix CD (as is everyone). THIS IS NOT A GRIME compilation. I listen to everything. Jay-Z, Green Day, Artic Monkeys, Jose Gonzalez. Look I’m even doing a remix to a Fleetwood Mac tune. There’s too much music around for me to be doing one style. The rest is history.
