Sonny Black & Divin Inc. Biography
Innovation, originality, creativity, versatility: These qualities sorely lack from today’s Pop-Urban-Rock music scene. Yet, they’re somehow all encompassed in Sonny Black & Divin’s visionary scope.Their artistry may appear to be second nature, but it wasn’t always the case. Sonny Black & Divin have been paying dues on the Canadian scene for over a decade. With much experience under their belt, Divin met future partner Sonny Black in 1999 and founded Sonny Black & Divin Inc, previously known as Dreamland Studios. The tandem quickly gained a reputation across the city for producing and recording reputed artists and underground upstarts alike. Hard work paid off and soon enough Divin and Black co-produced R&B singer Corneille’s international multiplatinum, Parce Qu’on Vient De Loin (2003).The duo also produced K-Maro’s La Good Life (2004) & Million Dollar Boy (2005) which went gold in France and spawned a double platinum single. Divin also appears on these albums, providing several hooks for the projects. Since then, the duo worked on Kulcha Connection (Plus Haut; Monte Le Son), Jerome-Philippe (Jerome-Philippe), Senaya (Garde La Tete Haute), Eve (A La Vie A La Mort), K-Maro (Platinum Remixes), Pamela (120 Milles à l’heure) and currently finishing Imposs (Mon Poing De Vue). Many projects were blessed with their international touch and vision, setting musical trends for the Pop culture of the 21st century.
