I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Enduring years of passionate ambivalence, I am a work in progress. There is a fine line between anger and passion. My life has and continues to be a struggle to strike a balance between peace and justice. My living heroes tend to be people that are engaged in the world and making a difference in their own creative way. I always think that you could tell a lot about a person, not only by what they spend their time doing, but also by those that they choose to keep company with. Integrity is important to me. I try to keep moving forward, focused on what is within my power, without spending too much time focused on the past or other situations that are beyond my control. Politically, I'm pro-choice, pro-gay, am opposed to the Iraq War, am very concerned about the environment and issues of sustainability, and embrace diversity. I believe strongly in public education and giving people an opportunity to help themselves.

My Interests

Hiking, camping, exploring, experiencing other cultures, gardening, cooking, entertaining, keeping aquariums, reading, writing, chess, pool, red wine, chocolate, Guinness, politics, history, philosophy, Burningman, Whole Earth Festival, Certified Farmer's Markets, local bands, open mic nights, travel, challenging dogma, spending time with my nieces and nephews...

I'd like to meet:

Creative, positive, intelligent, fun, honest folks with low drama. People who are more into (as Carlos Santana puts it) the business of lifting others up and inspiring greatness rather than tearing others down. It's easier to find fault in others than it is to seek common ground.************************ Artists, activists and friends like those on my top 40 list! Check them out, sample their music or other art if you want to get a better idea of what I like. Another stimulating place to visit is www.hansrocks.com GOT IT? Peace....

Draft Al Gore

He hasn't been absolute in his response to all inquiries that I've either seen or read.  What is clear to me from interviews that I've seen and read is that he not seeking the Office of Presid...

Tracker

Tracker, one of the warmest, funniest men I have ever met, has apparently died. Anybody that has ever had the pleasure of his company, can attest to what fun it is to be in his vicinity. His laughter,...

Overheard on the campaign trail

Regarding healthcare coverage, as quoted in the Oregonian 8/28/07, p. A2 "My lesson (from that) is not the same as hers [H. Clinton].  Her lesson is, 'Give them a seat at the table.'  I thin...

Recent activism

This is something that I shared in a recent email to a dear friend and now I shall share it with you. I was protesting against the war before it started and continued for a while after it started. I'v...

Concert in the Park, Dallas OR style

So, Dallas has nothing on Sacramento when it comes to the music scene or promoters.  I saw that they had a free concert in the park series on Thursdays downtown.  This past Thursday there wa...

Depoe Bay

This is one of my new favorite places. It's an artsy little town, that's billed as the "World's Smallest Harbor." It's got a boardwalk of touristy businesses, directly across the road from the terrifi...

Disconnected: Operator, can you help me place this call?

The recording is not "an error," nor "in error."  The phone is dead and it will not come back to life, at least not with Metro PCS or with the same phone number. No, I didn't lose it.  No, I...

Toddlers

They say the funniest things, mostly inadvertantly.  Take this one little princess for example.  She will claim that she is shy with me, because she doesn't want her parents to leave.  ...
