After almost one and a half year with international bands and dj..s performing at every Klub DADA we thought it was about time to dedicate a night to some of our own Copenhagen based talents. On may the 23th we bring you the danish 5 man techno laptop orchestra Quint accompanied by Bottega Areté who will perform on a exclusive this night only VJ set up!
Quint is a musical project made up by five dynamoes from the danish minimal techno / house scene.
The Idea
The initial idea behind Quint, came about when the danish Documentary film festival (CPH:DOX) approached Daniel Beattie (Dj Daniel) in order to make him assemble a Labtop orchestra for their opening party. He chose 4 skilled producers who all knew each other from the local scene, and whom he knew had made their mark on the global electronic scene. The concept was fairly simple: Put them together and let the creative process take it..s course. Right from day one, Quint was indeed an experiment. None of the producers had worked together before, and each one comes from a whole different universe of sound. The basic thought was to make them all come together in a improvised electronic live experience, that would make heads bop and feet move. And luckily that was exactly what happened.
The Sound
Quint consist of 4 producers that each bring a laptop, and a fifth member who EQ, moderates, and mixes it all together, right there on the spot, at the club. Everybody brings their Labtop laced with loops and samples, but as a matter of principle everything is always 100% improvised. None of the members know what the others are bringing, there are no premade arrangements or sets. Everyone in the club are experiencing the music for the first and probably the last time. It's all about making that unique experience, that perfect groove, that only exists in that particular place in space and time. As the producers are diverse and Quint tries to keep it as surprising and different as possible, the range of music delivered is wide. Stripped down deep house, bumping techno, dubbed out soundscapes & everything in between.
The Sight
Just as the producers in Quint are working together as one to bring the best sounds, some of Copenhagen's finest VJs from the Bottega Areté Gang will use the same formular to add that certain feeling of totality, and submerge the clubbers deep down into their world. As the producers and VJs improvise, they feed from each other and set out for a land unknown.
