I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am going to try to sum me up in a few words- Man...impossible! I have lived alot in my 35 years- from traveling to Mexico (missionary work) and Germany, being part of two different rock bands, and carrying my a** through college! Although it has been a few years since I have performed in a band, I am eager to get back on the bicycle again! FOR MY OWN SANITY! With my new Fender Strat, it shouldn't be too hard!
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ASKED: What style of music do I play? What is my vocal range? Are you "any good"? The two bands I performed with were completely different- one was ska punk and the other... blues rock! Extremes...yes I tend to have experience with those! My personal taste is more mellow BUT I CAN DISH OUT THE ROCK!
My vocal range is mostly alto that bleeds somewhat into the lower soprano range- and higher when voice is being used every day and I lighten up on cigs and whiskey! I can match range with Fionna Apple, Sade, Pink, Alannah Myles, and Natasha Bedingfield (Jewel on a good day!).
I have done a touch of lead vocals- and have pulled it off nicely!
AND THE FINAL QUESTION~~~~ Are you good with an instrument? I am self taught on the guitar, with a smattering of lessons with mentors/teachers. I mainly play acoustic guitar, focusing on the Flamenco style of finger picking. In order to broaden my horizons, I have bought a Fender Strat in the hopes of turning back to my rock~n~roll roots!
I have been classically trained (piano/ clarinet) and can read music and have had minor experience reading the TAB style of musical notation (that is what you get in all those magazines, ya'll).
I played piano and clarinet in my younger years- but then started to learn on my own ... keyboards, guitar and harmonica (YES- i said it!)by jamming with other musicians! In the field training you might say!
~I once took lessons and the guy said I was a superfast learner and that he actually felt the pace of the lessons were holding me back~
I know chords, and can follow a good lead- and then OVERTAKE THEM!
I have JAMMED with decent musicians and they never complained! So take it as you will- you just have to hear me!
I am actually looking to find a band to join- or will be slowly getting together the equipment I would need to record digitally at home- by myself! I mostly only play my own music- but could very easily learn cover tunes!
I write lyrics and music and would be willing to help create new material~~~ and I am not one of THOSE who freaks out about my fellow band members wanting to change or edit my work in progress! I consider all work to be a group effort once I present the initial idea or melody. HOPE THAT ANSWERS ALL YOUR QUESTIONS~ hope to JAM soon!
It took me a long time to get here- but by golly, I made it! I graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology and got accepted to grad schoool- but a car accident changed my whole plan! Although I am still recovering, I am almost at 100% again! I have gotten back to my martial arts finally- still can't punch anybody yet- but can't WAIT! :D
Currently, I am a freelance writer... work for The Thunder Child website and the Fight News Unlimited site. I write book and movie reviews, cover local MMA fights, and I am also working on my first sci-fi book. Hope to be published in the next year!
For my day job... I work at a retirement community as an activity assistant! I get to party with the older generation- and I love every minute of it. I run a craft class for them and also take them on outings to the theatre and symphony productions. Remember... the body ages but the spirit stays young!
I enjoy camping, hiking, canoeing and hope to take up some rock climbing! I am a voracious reader and researcher- if you have a question, I can either answer it or find you the answer! I have a scientific mind but the heart of an artist! To live the fullest experience, one should taste both logic pursuits and artistic ones! I am a dancer, musician, writer, poet, artist, athlete, performer, philosopher, scientist, dreamer, lover, friend, sister and daughter.I am the girl next door- kicked up a notch!I also am very family oriented- I would do anything for them~ they rock too! I have three sisters and one brother- and countless uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandparents! I love each and every one of them! They taught me to be honest, work hard, be persistent, accept life isn't fair, and to give 110%! I was also taught that a woman can be just as smart, fast, powerful or successful as any man~ and that has proven to be true! God Bless Them!I am a spiritual person- I don't prescribe to any particular religion per se- but I would consider myself a Christian Buddhist if I had to pin it down.
I believe in the power of prayer, positive thinking, compassion and firmly believe in letting go of all earthly attachments! Of course this is easier said than done! I am quite attached to my Crown whiskey and cigarettes! LOL I believe in angels- in Heaven and on Earth- and I long for the day when we all find our inner Angel!

When the Dalai Lama dies monks will seek out the child who is believed to be the next reincarnation of this teacher (lama). Such a child is called a Tulku. When a child is believed to have been found, it will be given several tests. This could involve having to select items which belonged to the dead lama from amongst other things.~ .. ..
