Soundas was originally formed in west London in 2005 by Marcelo Marques and Josh Chancer, both of them being dj’s and keen Clubbers, wanted to take there knowledge and experience in to something new and exciting. With that Soundas was born! Soundas got there first night at Club U4ria in west London and went on to host regular nights there, with Josh & Marcelo the resident dj’s who invited a more underground circle of dj talent to play at there nights. The night got from strength to strength and as a result bigger gigs for both residents started to come along including The International Indoor Festival SE1 and The infamous Finger Parties of west London. Wanting to take things further, Soundas decided to head off to the motherland of Marcelo Marques, Brazil. Dj’ing and promoting in Mines Gerise both Marcelo and Josh started playing there own nights and other gigs in Patos, Rio de Janerio and Bella Horizotize. All the While Soundas was still going strong back in the UK, in the hands of Lance Hopkins/Ollie Jaye & the Welsh boys. DJ PROFILE: OLLIE JAYE
Ollie Jaye began as a club DJ many years ago in the early years of Hip Hop progressing through the original electro, bleeps, piano house and hardcore until 1996 when trance and hard house began to emerge. This was his true vocation. He made his first 'proper' tune "Eden" which he gave to one of his musical heroes and now best friend Jon the Dentist who released it on Bosca Beats. This began a musical partnership that fused Jon's darker edge with Ollie's knowledge of how to make a crowd throw their hands in the air and get the most out of whatever they'd taken! After a few ground breaking tunes such as 4th Kingdom & Anthem they hit the big time with "Imagination". Instantly signed by Tidy Trax it became a worldwide club monster and is still being played today by many DJ's. This was followed by "Feel so Good", once again signed by Tidy Trax and would have been a top 5 hit in the UK charts if it hadn't been for the dubious video that got instantly banned by all TV stations! These records launched Ollie as an international DJ and he enjoyed many years playing his crowdpleasing sets in pretty much every country around the globe. The records with Jon kept coming including the infamous Eminem sampling "Phat Sunshine" under the name "Friends of Stan". After three years of taking time out he’s back again with a new band and a new sound. Also taking up residency with the boys from Soundas. The next 12 months are gonna be interesting!!
