CFGS encourages the world to join in various forms of Silence 4 days a year. Music:

When I'm listening to roots reggae and straight ahead jazz, and Afro-Latin, specifically, Cuban, music, my soul awakens, my heart warms up, and an inner smile radiates in my within. I was listening to some roots reggae, a compilation with Don Carlos and, ah, I felt like I had been delivered! Later, I played Bobi Cespedes' "Rezos," and my neck and shoulders began to roll, then my back, before I knew it, I was in prayful dance. Poncho Sanchez can work my feet into a frenzy, as did Taumbu International Ensemble years ago. Don't get me to sitting down with the straight-ahead jazz ofCedar Walton, with Godfather Billy Higgins at the drums, heaven calls. John Coltrane, Pharoah, Monk? Pleez! Tchaikovski's Waltz puts me on the arm of my Dad and La Boheme places me on the floor of my childhood livingroom laughing and screaming our version of Italian with my Dad and sister while my Mom screamed for us to turn down the music. Soul music, aka old school, The Main Ingredients, Smokey Robinson (no boy who didn't like Smokey could even speak to me!)and the incomparable EW&F, whew! that was the music of my soul back in the day. Can't leave out Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Chicago, and even the Carpenters. And, know that Carlos Santana rules! I'd even check out some country music here and there. Destiny's harp is right up there with the celestial orchestra, which by now has quite a pick of the best musicians this planet has seen in all genres. I feel honored to have such a healthy musical appetite. Ohmigod/dess, I can go on and on. For that, and so much more, I give thanks.
