Hello, my name is Gunner. My birthday is February 3, 2004 - 2-3-4...cool huh? I am an American Water Spaniel - which is the Wisconsin state dog. I enjoy chasing my feline sister, Elly, around the house.
I have been living with my mom, dad and sisters (one human, one feline) since I was 8 months old. My grandpa, who died on October 2, 2005, saw an ad in the newspaper for me, and called my mommy. Grandpa and grandma once owned a female American Water Spaniel named Rusty and knew mommy loved her very much and wanted another American Water Spaniel to love. Mommy, daddy, and Sarah met the person who advertised me in the paper, and, of course ME at a park in Milwaukee, WI. Mommy almost cried when she saw the small crate in the back of that man's truck...it was smaller than I was! Mommy knew she had to save me from a man, who admittedly had no time for me. I was housebroken, but not really trained otherwise.
I still cannot make myself become good friends with my big sister, Elly the cat. I do like her, but my hunting instincts make me that I want to catch her and hunt her all the time. Elly is afraid of me because of this. We do play through the cat door, where Elly is safely on the steps to the basement. I poke my head in there and sniff her; she smacks me with her paw and chatters at me. It's fun!
I also enjoy it when my big brother Michael comes to visit because he plays rough with me! He is a police officer in Michigan. I also love his fiance Elsa Leah, but I think she doesn't like me because I am a bit too rowdy at times. I still think I am a puppy!
