I was born in the Bronx, New York, July 13th, one of three children from an Italian/American family. My Dad, Anthony Iovino was the 1958 New York State Golden Gloves Champion he also qualified for the 1960 US Olympic Boxing Team. My dad also instructed and competed in martial arts. My Mom was a model and graced the pages of Ingenue Magazine in 1960, she was also offered a cover shoot for Vogue Magazine. My older brother Anthony (named after my dad) was a competitive powerlifter and a competitive natural bodybuilder. He is presently the Assistant Director of Physical Plant at Nova Southeastern University located in Ft. Lauderdale. My younger brother Rocco (named after the infamous "Rocky Marciano") is a NYPD Detective, a Photographer (Images by Rocco) and a Musician (Sweet as Ether).
Growing up in my family physical activity was a must! As long as I can remember exercise was a huge part of our lives. I used to accompany my dad to the gym from around the age of 4 years old, I can still remember sitting on the sidelines watching everyone with intensity. It was great! I was his assistant, getting his towel and water, holding his legs for crunches and headstands. Our weekends were spent at Martial arts competitions all over the tri-state area. I was always there.
I have been married to my husband Rob for 20 years, we have been training every morning at 5:30am for many years. I am his trainer, motivator and nutritionist! He is a recreational powerlifter/bodybuilder and proud owner of his own business, EASTLAND ALARMS . I have instilled the same lifestyle in my children and have succeeded. It is most rewarding to me to see my children so dedicated to their sports and strength training regimen, it is priceless!
It wasn’t until I became certified with ISSA that I started some serious strength training. Dr. Jack Barnathan (Center for Strength and Perfomance/New York Strength) is the best instructor in the world and his energy is contagious in a great way! The pursuit of strength is by no means something antiquated, it is still revered today in its many different forms: strength of character, strength of will, strength of resolve, strength in the face of adversity, strength of patience, strength of belief and of course physical strength. I concentrate on sharpening all areas. My strength and motivation has become “unstoppable” I love it!! I owe it all to him and I continue to refer many to ISSA “The Strongest Family in the World”
I love being a Personal Trainer and teaching clients how to take care of their bodies and grow stronger. I train most of my clients at the Westchester Country Club/Willow Ridge Country Club and I am also a private personal trainer and travel to clients homes in the surrounding area. I train young children, which I feel is most important, as we all know good habits start early. I also train elderly clients, they need strength training most of all. I plan to teach, train, strengthen and guide my clients into a healthier lifestyle.
