NASHVILLE FM

The Biggest European Country Radio

About Me

WELCOME TO NASHVILLE FM
OFFICIAL MYSPACE
The station broadcast January 1998 until October 2003 with a national coverage in the Netherlands reaching 6.2 million households. It was one of only a few country stations in Europe. Despite the weekly audience of 448.000 listeners the station was losing a lot of money due to the fact that country formats are less popular with advertisers in Europe compared with the USA. In Europe country music is still a format for narrowcasting. In October 2003 the station had to close down.
Future: Ruud Kegel, the former station manager, is a well known country fan. The Country Music Association in Nashville in 1999 recognized him with an International Broadcaster Award. Mr. Kegel wants to continue promoting country music. So a foundation was set up (Stichting Nashville FM) to start a new station. Nashville FM is now broadcasting in the Netherlands on cablenetworks at 99.3 FM and on the internet.
