I was born 1961 in Germany (tubingen) Since I can remember music was always the greatest way to express my feelings. I started playing the guitar and organ at the age of nine. I did not want a music teacher because I did not like the school where I would have to take lessons so I decided to teach myself. When I was 19 I started traveling around the world. I was very inspired by all new kinds of music and sounds I discovered while on my journey. Some of the many styles I listened to were rock, jazz, folk, punk, new age, and classic music and I realized that through music there were many ways to express the same feelings.
In 1987 I had my first punk jazz band named 'Gutbrod Attack'. We often played at jazz festivals and if we weren't too drunk or high we could play a nice gig. I realized that being the leader of band was stressful and time consuming. Around this same time I started to record at a friends home studio and I discovered that this was the answer for me; I could express myself without all the problems that came with leading a band, I could be my own band.
In 1989 I bought my first home recording studio, a 16 track recorder with an Atari sequencer. This was the beginnings of what I am still doing today, although the studio has been upgraded a few times! Besides my productions, I am more and more involved with DJ-ing. Currently I am resident DJ at Atzaro, a beautiful Balinese style ambient lounge in the Ibiza countryside; a very good place to play sound-scapes.
Recently I have started to DJ in clubs around the world where I play electronic dance music.
I have released three CD´s under the artist name Ohm-G 'FUTURE BALLADS', 'POP ART', 'MOMENTS', and one sample CD called "SPIRITUAL VOICES".
In 2006 I produced and cowrighted the CD 'PUZZEL', by Bruno from Ibiza, (from cafe del mar). My music is featured on many compilations and I have done re-mixes and single tracks under my name 'Olaf Gutbrod'. At the moment I am working on mainly dance tracks where I am creating my own sound. In my work I try to not repeat myself and I love to work in many different styles. To me, music is a journey of changing emotions. It's so wonderful to discover new sounds and frequencies.
