About Me

Hey everyone , my name is Adam Matthew Vinatieri i was born to Paul and Judy Vinatieri on December 28th, 1972 in Yankton South Dakota, and i am the second of four children. I lettered in football, soccer, track, and wrestling at Rapid City Central High School (South Dakota) and earned first-team all-state honors in 1991. I then earned a degree in fitness and wellness at South Dakota State. I was a four-year lettermant South Dakota State as a place-kicker, and I also handled the team's punting chores from 1992 through 1994, earning myself first-team all-conference honors in each of those three seasons. I finished my collegiate career as the school's all-time scoring leader with 185 career points scored. My younger brother, Beau, is a kicker at Blackhill State College. After college I spent the fall of 1995 training to compete professionally, and my hard work paid off. I received a World League tryout and earned a roster position with the Amsterdam Admirals as a place-kicker and punter. I have been very active in the community since joining the Patriots in 1996. The Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Athletes in Action, D.A.R.E. and the Governer's Highway Safety Bureau are just a few of the many charities that I have donated time and resources to over the past couple of years. I am also the spokesperson for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island’s Teen Anti-smoking Contest. I am an active partner of findRI.com, Inc. "Rhode Island’s .. Magazine." findRI.com was launched in 1997 to make it easier for Rhode Islanders to find local information on the Internet, and help local business make meaningful connections with the same audience.Super Bowl Win Sinking In 02/28/05Every one of the Super Bowls we’ve been through has been very special in its own way. Now that I have some free time on my hands I’m going to let it sink in and really enjoy it. You never know what the outcome of the game is going to be and how things are going to unfold. I had a field goal early in the game but it didn’t come down to the last minute this time. I got to stand on the sidelines and cheer my teammates on so it was a different experience for me than the last two. As long as we win, that’s the only thing that matters. This off-season I went to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl and I’m also going to head down to my place in Florida and have some more fun in the sun. Once the off-season workouts start we’ll get back to work and prepare to defend our title.Win Over Titans Well-Fought 01/12/04It was a well fought, smash 'em in the mouth type game. I was fortunate to have the opportunity for the winning kick and fortunate that it went through. When it gets cold, the ball just doesn't travel far. Punts, field goals and kickoffs don't travel as far so you try to hit them a little harder and you don't have as much room for error. On my missed field goal, I tried to overcompensate and I kicked it a little harder. Sometimes, just like a golf swing, you have to smoothen it and it goes farther. On the game winning field goal, I just tried to get it up and get it down the middle and let everything take care of itself. I don't think I had it by a whole lot of yards, fortunately we were in the right range. It was just fortunate that our defense came up big, we had an opportunity for a field goal at the end and everyone stepped up and we had some big plays.
