The Club Punks are Chris Mulay and Hugo ‘Boss’ Cintron. Two life-long friends who started out back in 1989 DJing house parties and small local nightclubs out of their mutual love for the music they played, the money they made, and the attention they got from the ladies. As they “matured†over the years, the music became their main focus.
Chris managed to build a respectable reputation in his native New York DJing at the biggest nightclubs Manhattan had to offer. Most notably as a resident for Peter Gatian’s Limelight and The Tunnel. Chris has also been spotted playing to the masses in lavish nightspots in Miami, holidays in Cancun, and raves in Argentina. Hugo, the more versatile of the duo, has earned a living DJing weekly at different clubs in New York playing different styles of music, although house music has always remained his passion. He showed his versatility best back in 2001 when he took a gig as a DJ/road manager for hip-hop groups The Arsonists and The Beatnuts during the North American leg of their world tour together.
As far as productions go, Chris had signed a few tracks released on various record labels over the years under the moniker ‘Motherlode,’ with his biggest release being a wicked club anthem titled “Sin-nuh†on Whoop! Records (UK) back in 2001 that was remixed by Mike Monday and Soul Mekanik and charted by the likes of Pete Tong, John Digweed, and Danny Tenaglia. Upon teaming up in the studio with Hugo, the pair have gone by the name The Club Punks since 2004 when they dropped their first collaboration effort on a track titled “Zumba†released on world reknown DJ/Producer Peter Presta’s UK based Apple Jaxx Recordings, which was later licensed to Jesse Garcia’s Tribal Spain label. The record saw heavy plays from DJ’s such as Tom Stephan (Superchumbo) and David Morales, not to mention was picked up for numerous mix CD compilations. The pair since have had original productions and remixes on record labels such as Royal Drums (France), Magna (Portugal), and Harlequin (U.S.) to name a few.
Coming in 2007 will be a big remix for DJ Jaimy’s popular Fatal Music imprint titled "Crowd Pleazer," an all new production on Peter Presta's sub-label Jumpin Jaxx aptly titled "What Makes Me A Slut?" - which is sure to get listeners attention with its dirty house sound, and a string of other new productions and remixes solely crafted to kick dancefloors asses. So if you love real underground, big room house music, then keep your eyes and ears open for this duo. And if you know of a good party going down, be sure to give them a call...their partying is known to be just as notorious as their productions ;)..
