About Me

Family is exceedingly important to me, which also leads me to be extremely proud of the part of my heritage that I know.
I have an almost child-like lighter side and an unfortunately well-developed darker side, and I generally wear my heart on my sleeve. People generally see me on the lighter side, see the softer me, but I've been known to switch unpredictably on occasion. I can be soft as satin, or hard as stone; cold as ice, or on fire with passion or rage. I have come through many less-than-pleasant experiences that have shaped my harder, darker side, and it can be difficult to leave that part behind, knowing that what remains is then left vulnerable.
Fortunately, I have also been shaped by some wonderful experiences, the astounding love of a close family, and some amazing friends. My incredibly patient and loving husband, my pet rabbit Daisy, and the aforementioned family and friends are of particular help in keeping me sane. ;) They are largely to credit for my "making it;" they helped me find my strength and my light, and they are each a deep joy in my life.
I love deeply and fiercely. I also love quickly; there are probably those who still consider me simply a friendly acquaintance that I consider a full-fledged friend. There are those I've lost touch with who I still consider close friends. It doesn't matter much to me where I stand with them, I nonetheless love and cherish them, and for the most part I only require respect (which includes trust and love) to maintain a friendship. However, should I find that respect lacking (whether I feel you lack respect for me or I somehow lose respect for you), ties will be cut just as quickly and thoroughly as they were made.

I love art (I mostly sketch and paint, and I love perusing others' works), crafts, music, reading, singing, and dancing. I love exploring history, religion, mythology, and dark lore (vampires, ghosts, werewolves, etc.). I love exploring differences in lifestyle, and exploring my own style, whether that means I "fit in," in my favorite places, or stick out like a sore thumb.

I'll also delete you after a more direct and personal warning if I receive what I consider to be offensively inappropriate comments or messages, and they do not cease after said warning. I prefer that you don't add me just to up your friends count, but it's a free country. For my part, I will only request that someone be my friend if I am interested in something they've posted, or if I actually know them personally or via group.

Music:

Moods are the dictators of my musical interests. I like a little of just about everything, because nearly every genre has something to suit some mood of mine or another. The types of music I listen to least are classical, country, r&b, hip-hop, and rap.

Movies:

Again, nearly every genre has something to offer for me. When it comes to horror I do stick to psychological thrillers and ghost stories and avoid that blood-and-guts drek. Most slasher films have thin plots and go strictly for shock value, and I find them more gross than scary.

Television:

My regularly scheduled viewing is pretty much Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, America's Next Top Model, Ghost Hunters (including GH International), and Mad Men. I do enjoy catching certain other shows from time to time, and watching old favorites on DVD, but most weeks I just stick to my regular viewing.

Books:

Fantasy (e.g., Lord of the Rings); Horror and Dark Fantasy (Stephen King, The Secret Books of Paradys, The Vampire Chronicles, etc.); Sci-Fi (e.g., the Rowan series); Biographies, particularly of people at psychological extremes (serial criminals, victims of abuse and violent crime, etc.); some other non-fiction, depending on my mood and interests at any given time; poetry; Edgar Allen Poe; William Shakespeare; really anything that can keep my attention. ;p

Heroes:

Anyone who gives of themselves to protect and/or help others. I happen to be priveleged enough to know a few personally.

Dinner at Olive Garden Friday night was delightful.  I had the Stuffed Chicken Marsala, but I found myself wishing I had ordered the Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo.  Still, the Chicken was excepti...

Anticipation

The weekend is fast approaching, and I'm so excited!  We made our decision regarding dinner, based on a variety of factors:  We're going to go to Olive Garden.  1) My mom gave us a gift...

8th Anniversary

8 years.  Wow.  I was informed earlier today that 8 is the number of new beginnings, and therefore likely heralds a good year for our marriage. It's certainly started off well.  I can't...

See? Look close:  They're right there in the middle of her lower gum, two of them.  Now that they've emerged, as you can see, she's more giggly and smiley, and much less cranky than last we...
