"Our sacred lands are all that remain keeping us connected to our place on Mother Earth, to our spirituality, our heritage and our lands; what's left of them. If they take it all away, what will remain except a vague memory of a past so forgotten?"
~ Tamra Brennen ~
MICHAEL BUCHER (pronounced Busher) is a Cherokee singer-songwriter who was taught from the beginning of his memory the stories, language and legends of his people. His songs are intended to teach, heal and bring an awareness to everyone who hears them. He sings about topics that are important to him and others in Indian Country. From the desecration of sacred sites, to Cherokee legends, to the sometimes seemingly Invisible Indian, there's a passionate quality throughout. With strong vocals and heartfelt lyrics, his music is a blend of acoustic guitar, native and contemporary drums, flute, shakers, rattles, bass and electric guitars, and cuts a swath through native folk, blues and rock.

Shadowyze and Big Lo

SHADOWYZE is not the typical Grammy-nominated hip-hop celebrity. From a background of Muskogee Creek /Cherokee and Irish/Swedish heritage, and as a writer and producer, Shadowyze represents in many ways an atypical strain within an extremely active and empowering social dynamic called hip-hop.

Since his musical career has taken off with Murder In Our Backyard, Shadowyze has appeared on over a dozen compilations and released three full length albums; Spirit Warrior (2001), World of Illusions (2003), and his current 2005 release; the self-titled Shadowyze.

In 2005, Shadowyze won both the Native American Music Award and the Pensacola, Florida Music Award for best hip-hop and has been the focus of several stories appearing in Rolling Stone, Vibe, XXL, Billboard, New York Times and the Chicago Tribune. Through Backbone, Records; Shadowyze’s personally owned and operated record company he also released Guerillas in the Mixx, a compilation in cooperation with Big Lo featuring Public Enemy, The Coup, Michael Franti, Spearhead, Afrika and Litefoot.

Shadowyze performances in 2006 include the Autry Center with Night Shield in Los Angeles; Spring Fest in Pensacola, FL; Urban Arts Festival, Pensacola, FL; Club Atlantis, Mobile Al; O’Reilly’s Nightclub, Pensacola, and has appeared on the following compilations with Maniac; Yaiva; Night Shield; Wardog; Latin Empire; Indiani (Italy) Robbie Robertson, and Rita Coolidge. He was a guest presenter at the 2006 NAMA’s Hollywood, FL.

In September of 2006, Shadowyze went back into the studio with executive producers, PK Productions, LLC and music producer, Kevin “DJ Dev” Grisham for new track remix of “Boom Boom” and “Bumpy Roads.”

Shadowyze has spoken on Native American issues and performed his music on many reservations including Poarch Creek in Alabama, Big Cypress Seminole Reservation in Florida, Shennecock in Long Island, The Pueblos of New Mexico and others.

With one foot in the music industry and the other in indigenous socio-political activism, Shadowyze has established himself in a world much richer than the standard glamorization of sex, drugs and violence. Not only does he orate on the social issues he is impassioned to inform the public of, but he has also been a first hand witness to many of them.

Well traveled, well rounded and gifted with the ability to poeticize nearly any idea that comes to his mind, Shadowyze is quite animate and enthusiastic when he describes his thoughts. As a spokesman for unity, Native American identity and environmental respect, Shadowyze and the subjects he brings to the table have caught the attention of countless fans seeking music with a message even-deeper than the bass that bumps in their rides.

Heroes:

The Circle has healing power. In the Circle we are all equal. When in the Circle, no one is in front of you. No one is behind you. No one is above you. No one is below you. The Sacred Circle is designed to create unity. The Hoop of Life is also a circle. On this hoop there is a place for every species, every race, every tree, and every plant. It is this completeness of Life that must be respected in order to bring about health on this planet. To understand each other, as the ripples when a stone is tossed in the waters, the Circle starts small and grows...until it fills the whole lake......

- Dave Chief, Oglala Lakota, Grandson of Red Dog/Crazy Horse's band
