David G. Maki II, a native to Michigan, has been playing saxophone since the age of 12. He attended Pinckney High School and was active in the jazz and marching bands as well as the wind ensemble. After graduation he attended Eastern Michigan University where he received his bachleors degree in Music Performance. In 1998 he joined Carnival Cruise Lines where he continued to pursue his career playing the Baritone Saxophone for 3 1/2 years. In 2001 he headed back to Michigan where he spent time playing with many seasoned musicians. He has had the privelege of playing with groups such as Detroits leading Latin Jazz Ensemble Saoco, Orchesta Sabrosa, The Martindales, www.martindalesband.com The Bluescasters www.thebluescasters.com and has shared the stage with grammy nominated group Liquid Soul. In 2003 he became the lead Alto/Baritone sax player for Lady Sunshine and the X band. www.ladysunshine.net After winning the Detroit Blues Competition in November of 2004 they went on to compete in Memphis where they won 2nd place in the International Blues competition in 2005. The X-Band has also been voted Best Blues Band in Washtenaw County 2 years running (2006-2007). He continues to play for the X band and is currently working on a solo project to be finished by the winter of 2008.
