Aaron Martinez

Hello, I am Aaron Martinez Bass player, vocalist, songwriter and M.S. Patient. I am a member of a band called MAS FiNA based in Sylvania Ohio. I graduated from North Central H.S. Pioneer Ohio in 1987. I have been singing since the age of 5 and picked up bass at 19 and have had the good fortune to open for a few big name acts such as The Guess Who, Brian Howe of Bad Company, and Ted Nugent. In July of 1998 I noticed a tremor or weakness in my left leg and within a week it consumed my whole left side, in two weeks I was partially paralyzed left side from the neck down, after several tests including an MRI, and a Lower Lumbar Puncture (a spinal tap), the results were in. On Aug. 22 1998 my 30th Birthday the diagnosis was Multiple Sclerosis, after 6 weeks of Physical therapy I was able to move again but thought that I should give up playing bass for fear of another M.S. attack so I sold my Bass guitars and Amplifiers, but then a friend Larry Benton convinced me to keep playing. Now 39 years old I am playing in MAS FiNA and will keep playing until the good lord tells me its time to stop and hope that this will inspire other people with M.S. or any other disabling disease to keep going and never give up your dreams .
