About Me

Hello. I have been in show business for almost 30 years. I got my break as a guest on "The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson" back in 1978. From there I was a guest several times and eventually became a guest host for Johnny Carson. In 1980, NBC gave me a morning show which only lasted 6 weeks. After the show was cancelled, I continued to fill in for Johnny Carson from time to time and did some stand up work. In 1982, I had the opportunity to take over the 12:30 timeslot for Tom Schenider. "Late Night" began on Feburary 2nd, 1982. It was a one hour long talk show peppered with random, yet fun segments. In 1993, I moved to CBS where I currently host CBS's "Late Show" "Late Night" and "Late Show formats are basically the samefavorite segments:Viewer mail (AKA CBS MAILBAG)stupid pet tricksstupid human trickstop ten listsstump the banddropping stuff off tall buildingssmashing things with a steam roller
