Mandy Barry brings her fresh, feisty and “full of attitude” approach to her debut album, "TBA" (Pacifico Records/Aaronbeats.com). The Chicago native, who sang her first song before she took her first steps, has the musical chops to back that attitude. Mostly self-taught on piano – her third-grade music teacher suggested Mandy apply to a conservatory after only a year of lessons because she “couldn’t teach her anything more”-- Mandy began writing and performing original music and producing demos in her father’s home recording studio at age 8.
After watching her parents entertain crowds at country clubs, trade shows and special events for many years as members of a professional Broadway review troupe, Mandy tried her hand at musical theatre and landed numerous lead roles during grade school and high school. “Growing up, my parents encouraged me to experience all kinds of music, from Broadway to Beethoven, to the Beatles, Garth Brooks, Eminem, and 3-Doors Down, stadium rockers like Aerosmith and Elton John and of course contemporary artists like Pink, Norah Jones and John Mayer,” says Mandy. “My dad would say ‘listen to successful singers and songwriters in all genre’s, try to feel what makes them special, then bury that feeling somewhere deep inside and go find your own voice.’”
Mandy was discovered at age 14 by a representative of a major U.S. record company at an open audition near Chicago. During that audition, which prompted the record company to team her with Pacifico Records producer and CEO Aaron Bradley aka AaronBeats, Mandy’s CD player (containing her original music track to which she was to sing live for the audition) completely malfunctioned. Without hesitation, she began singing her own (a capella) version of “the Star Spangled Banner” and drew a thunderous applause from the large crowd gathered in the audition hall.
Since then she has spent countless hours writing and recording with Pacifico. Working with sought after producer AaronBeats, and lyric writer Lavell, she looks forward to and anticipates the release of her first single, to be announced, and to “rockin’ the house” during live performances to promote her soon to be released DEBUT ALBUM.
