South Carolina....Stand Up!

About Me

Once upon a time in land called Carolina, an enlightened group of individuals decided to go against the grain and build an alliance of aspiring artists in the heart of the Dirty South. In the Fall of 1997, Killaville Vol 1 surfaced out of the Basement Studios of Greenville S.C. and it was on. Previous to this underground acclaimed compilation of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Spoken Word, artists such as Amiri, Gucci Crew, and BMF and the Posse were of just a few individual artist to gain recognition in this area. With the help of the One and Only DJ SCIENTIST, the organizers of Killaville were able to gain some airplay on the local radio station. After touring the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee, it became evident that major financing along with a strong marketing and distribution plan would be neccessary to promote the Hot talent residing in Killaville. Move to Spring of 2001 an there was the birth of the infamous Studio 291, which had its share of local radio hits as well as its "shoot outs" shall we say. The producers who laid beats down in this studio have since laid tracks down for Bubba Sparkxxx, Lil Flipp, Nivea, and St Louis' own Nelly. Im talkin about Russell Rockwell of Epdmk and Shazu & Phill Duckett of Digital Soul Productions. We did every show in the land from 50 Cent at Club 864, Ludacris at Clemson, to Nelly at the Bilo Center. And when it came to radio, 26 out of the 30 groups to get play on 107.3 JAMZ Spotlight hosted by Rob Laidbac came from this studio full of heat. 2003 brought us Killaville Vol 2 which appeared to be the break the Upstate needed to hit national but at this time EGOS GOT IN THE WAY. BOYS GROWING TO MEN, AND A WHOLE LOT OF TALENT BEGAN TO FIGHT FOR THE 1 SPOT. Major splits began to occur with individual successes and in the Spring of 2005 Powermove Records (a talented group who recorded at Studio 291) began Wednesday Nite Live at the Handlebar to keep the Killaville fire burning, and a local webdesigner teamed up with 85Entertainment to produce the website www.85Ent.com to promote local artists. This brings us up to the myspace age where everything and everyone in Killaville is about to explode. This time around it's not just about the artists, it's about EVERYBODY including YOU............. CAPTAIN KILLAVILLE signing off!!!!BuBB ft. D.I (you wont things your way)
