Man Television was a hell of a band. 'Marquee Moon'. What can I say about Television? I saw the old black and white video taped rehearsal of them from i think it's 1974 in an apartment in the Bowery. The same night we watched the 'Destroy All Monsters' Video Tapes. Niagra rolling around on the beach in Detroit with the mermaid outfit on. And all the costumes and colors and weapons and blood. Old video, it is so nice the way it picks up the light. It's compressed to all fuck-out and not even on purpose. I also like funny animal videos, especially ducks or bucks attacking people.
Black Indians. 'Resurrection' by Leo Tolstoy. and his biography by a French dude from the early 1960s is excellent. Once I was reading 'FIRE' by Anais Nin; one of her unedited journals. In which I love and hate her. "Suttree" and "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy are on the top of the pile. I like National Geographics from the early 1960s, except for falling in love with a geographical situation that no longer exists as it was portrayed at that point in time: The Pine Barrens of New Jersey, for example. I have been reading Homer's "Odyssey' on and mostly off since 1999. I love John Steinbeck and have laid my hands on Rocinante, the camper truck he lived in when he wrote his 'zine 'Travels With Charley'. I recently finished Bob Dylan's Chronicle, and Luna Kellie's book about collapsing sod houses, making garden, bloodthirsty pigs and burying babies on the Nebraska prairie.
