About Me

Nihao ma? Ne wei shaw, pu tong hua, ma?
I wrote this on August 11th, 2005:
I miss the kind of pies your grandmother and you spent all day picking berries for. The kind she made from scratch with her aging, yet beautiful hands. I miss the smell of her perfume. I miss the days where we could swim for 6 hours, and only take a break because our parents forced us to eat lunch. Splashing around, with no clue of the bigger issues we were one day going to face. I miss lying in my bed, dreaming of how I was one day going to change the world with my heart. That selfless child I used to be. I miss having no doubts that all parents had nothing but good intentions for their children. That mentally tainting a child was something no one could ever bare to do. I miss feeling unconditionally loved. Without begging for it. I miss school. Where there were no bills, broken cars, rent, or phones. I miss thinking my teeth were fine just the way they are. Physical imperfections, after all, make me realistic. I miss the time someone could actually keep my secrets to themselves. I miss hours of laughter until I thought my bladder would surely pop right out of my tummy. I miss the excitement I got when I achieved a goal I made for myself. Planning it out. Working hard, following through, until it was done, and seeing the end product, and feeling so good about myself. I miss not having expectations of people. Trusting anyone who crossed my path. I miss midnight hide-n-seek in the forest with my cousins and my sister. Making the most of what we had. Never complaining. I miss the happiness I got from drinking a glass of grape-juice. A time period I never thought would end the way it did. I miss feeling so much love for my family when I was around them, that I thought I would die of over-whelming emotion. Literally. I miss being me.

My Interests

You.

I'd like to meet:

"A human being is a part of the whole, called by us 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is akind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

This morning, while driving to work, I had the pleasure of encountering (yet) again, the politics of driving within a mile radius of a crazy, angry soccer mom. This event took place at 7:30 am while a...
