Witch Spirit

A girl far from her roots... My name is Rita Tekeyan a.k.a. Witch Spirit. I'm a pure Armenian Blood, born and raised in Beirut (Lebanon) where I still have my family and friends.
I come from a family where art and music play an important role; my grandfather Avedis Tekeyan was a photographer/poet/writer of Armenian play Vartan and Vartanank also writer of Armenian Genocide:Tragedy of Armenians in Behesni:Cilicia. My father is appasionate of theater, scenografy and painting he also did part of the Armenian Church choir for a long time. I also have an uncle drummer that spent 10 years in Norway playing live music. Growing up in this environment of art and music made me become who I am today.
I'm an architect and also a vocalist. I spend lot of my time listening to music, writing songs and sketching, well also dancing. Any form of art intrigues me because it's the body and mind collaborating to express something different new or whatever.
I started singing in an early age, participating to a couple of local TV programs for young talents, since then I realized that this is my passion, so I decided to dedicate more time to music in its different forms. I started taking keyboard lessons for one year, then I wanted to shift to Piano, so I was accepted in the Conservatory where I studied Piano for 6 years , I also took singing lessons studying as well music theory and harmony. I did part of the Armenian choir where I sang (as soprano) for four years .
Another form of art that accompanied my youth is dance, I've been studying dance; classical ballet, modern and Armenian Folk since childhood till some months ago, hopefully soon I'll be able to find the time to go back to the courses...
A curiosity about me, I speak and write 5 languages (Armenian, English, French, Arabic & Italian). I find this a great fortune because it helps me communicate with lot of people from different parts of the world!
In 2002, after falling in love with Italy and with the man who took my heart, I decided to move to this beautiful country rich with its history, art and medieval centers. Though I keep in my heart Beirut the city where I grew up and I lived during its war times and peace times, my childhood was so much shaked by war and bombs, and these moments unfortunately can't be understood unless somebody passes through it. The peace years in Beirut were really special, because I saw that city built and rebuilt with a strong will.
When I started my Architectural major in Universty, I approached art and creativity from a different angle, paying more attention to the concept and the order of things. Architecture helped me concretise my ideas, and I find lot of satisfaction in this field. At the end, I believe that Architecture, Music and Choreography are somehow linked...
It was in the University years , that I finally had the opportunity to sing in a rock band; since then I did part of some cover bands singing rock, hard rock, new metal and gothic.
For the moment I'm preparing some material (music and lyrics) for a new album.
I'm also the lead singer of my new band Nightfall Spirits we play cover music and soon our own...
