Mystery Pacific have become one of Australia's most respected Jazz Manouche groups, playing festivals and concerts around the country.
They share a love for the style of music pioneered by Django Reinhardt - known as Jazz Manouche, Gypsy Jazz or Gypsy swing. They take the compositions of Django as their canon, together with 20th Century standards and their own original material.Mystery Pacific have released three CDs, the first recorded live at the Brisbane Jazz Club in 2004, the second in 2005 featuring a number of their own compositions, and the third featuring flautist Susy Hull recorded in 2006. They have played Woodford Folk Festival, Valley Jazz Festival, Qld Music Festival, the National Folk Festival, the Bay of Islands Jazz Festival in New Zealand and featured in the lineup for the inaugural Australian Gypsy Jazz festival, OzManouche 2006.
The musicians are all highly accomplished and respected players - Ewan MacKenzie lead guitar, Luke Moller violin, Bruce Woodward - guitar and Rick Caskey double bass.
