The band's name derives from a term in Texas Hold'em poker. The Big Blind is the larger of the two required pre-flop bets, kind of a revolving ante made before any cards have been played, a truly blind bet made before you have any idea of what your actual chances are---the bet you make that you might be lucky contrary to all the evidence of your life, the bet that shows at least you're willing to sit at the table and take your chances rather than folding up. It's a blues bet.
In the short period of its existence, the band has played to increasingly-enthusiastic crowds at venues such as the Gemini Bar and Grill, the Twilight Café and Bar, the Ram Big Horn Tavern, the Tiki Room at the Jasmine Tree, the Trail's End Saloon in Oregon City and the Corner Saloon at Wanker's Corner.
In addition, the band members have committed themselves to a series of fundraising concerts for their school district and are happy to have raised over $2200 so far, with more benefit concerts on tap in the next few months.
