From the top:
I am a Fresno State student (going on year 4 soon), majoring in Business - Entrepreneur option. I started out my automotive enthusiasm at an early age with my first Jeep Power Wheel which, topped out at some warping speed of 2mph. This of course escalated into my father introducing me to American Muscle (Yes, it deserves capitalization) at the Annual Sacramento Autorama. For years I learned about the classics, the beautiful, the sleepers, the kits, the customs, and everything in between. So when my car prevails itself in the future, just remember that I was brought up on the classics.
My first car was a 1987 Nissan 300zx, which was sold due to high restoration costs. Then I had a 1987 Mazda RX-7, which was sold for the very same reasons. I learned the complexity of rotary engines as well as how fast 2nd gear goes in a residential (that last one was off the record). I took a break for a couple years and farted around in a 1987 Ford Bronco 2 until I could kill it and buy a newer car. The next car I bought consumed the next 4 years of my life, along with a good portion of my student loan (ouch), and many hours from my bi-weekly paycheck. I bought a 1996 Honda Accord LX Sedan. Needless to say I went through the standard practices of my 'Fast & Furious' generation by making it a "Ricer" amongst other profane words used to describe this constant declination of a reputable, reliable Honda. I invested in neon, lots of speakers, interior paint, and color matched upholstery. It was here that my learning curve finally started to take shape and I realized that this is not what I wanted to do with cars. However, this is the car that allowed me to appreciate a lot of things in life. These lessons learned included:
-
Learning that work is best done in the supervision of a professional mechanic if not by one
Learning that educational funding is best spent on tuition & books, not tires & bumpers
Learning that it's better to spend the extra coin on quality versus a quantity
Putting my past car history aside I give way to the future outlook on my life. I head into the year 2007 as a prospective racecar driver, shop owner, team owner, & mechanic. Sure this sounds like a lot of things to accomplish but if I get enough support and my business plan rolls out smoothly, I might just be able to do it all in 10-15 years. With these goals in place I now start a schedule of events that must take place in order to follow through in real life.
I look forward to the persuit of this business venture & hope I can accomidate, entertain, and establish some sort of posative effect with those that follow & help me through it all.
Thanks!
