Why hi there! You must have taken the wrong turn over at the GOOORRRRRRRRRGEOUS *M@g!C*'s myspace off of Highway 301. But while you're here, why not stay for a brew? I'm Oktavia (or Okkie as I'm more commonly known). I've been working as a performing drag queen for over 5 years now, at various venues around town but predominantly at the Ed Castle hotel, where for the past 2 and half years I was producing the shows on Friday nights. As you are all probably aware, unfortunately, the Ed ceased trading at the end of April 2007. I was first asked to produce a show for the Mardi Gras Collective in 2004 and since then Ive never looked back as I have had the privilidge to work alongside some amazingly talented people. These include performers such as Cleo Cosmopolitan, Vonni, Malt Biscuit, Fifi, Rochelle, Raven, Gloria Williams, Victoria Square, Keith, Brynn, DJ, Passion, Miss I Candee, Kitten Kaboodle, Magenta (in fact I think I have worked with most, if not all perfomers in town). I will always be grateful for the experience I had before this point, working under the talents of Maggie Scott, Loco Minx and Reagan Wilde. And of course, the brilliance of the diva herself, Nancee Dee :-) To me drag is the chance to produce entertainment that I hope people both on and off the scene enjoy - I assume it's working as I've had the honour of being awarded Drag Queen Of The Year twice now :-) So at this point, I wanna say thank you to everyone out there who came along and regularly supported us and our shows. As long as you were there clapping, screaming and singing along, then at least I know I was doing my job right. As for the future, well, who knows?
