Major D is a talented and respected DJ from the midlands, specialising in R‘n’B and Hip Hop. He has enjoyed a successful career that started at an early age and he continues to be in demand as both a Club and radio DJ.His career started in the midlands where his talent did not go unnoticed, as in 2001 Major D was nominated for a UK hip hop/rnb award, He then joined the UK East West/Atlantic street team and controlled the Birmingham street team helping promote forthcoming artists, such as Missy Elliott, Twista, Fat Joe, Lil Kim etc. He also was the first DJ to be interviewed and be a mix DJ on Steve Sutherlands Galaxy network Show.Major D then teamed up with 3style from Birmingham’s Galaxy 102.2, where he was with the station for a year and a half doing weekly mixes for their urban shows on the station, and then in 2002 he joined the BBC with the launch of BBC Radio 1xtra as a mix DJ/presenter. As well as his fortnightly mixes being aired on the station nationally, and live broadcasts from various clubs around the country, he also presented a 4 hour ‘in the mix’ show every month.He has interviewed some of the black music industry’s leading figures, such as Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott, Fabolous, Heartless Crew, Miss Dynamite & Destiny’s Child to name a few. Major D’s talent has also given him recognition internationally, making several appearances as a special guest DJ all over Europe such as Ireland, Athens & Belgium.2005 saw him being approached by Newstyle Radio 98.7 to do a 2 hour fortnightly radio show on Saturday afternoons. 2007 sees Major D produce a 30 minute mix every first saturday of the month for DJ One Step of Kemet Radio Nottingham this as well as Newstyle.
