Think of Bob Dylan, Widespread Panic and Sublime being whipped in a blender with a couple of shots of Appleton Rum....ooh weird
Sounds Like: A combination of contagious jams and eclectic songwriting. Strong, inimitable lead vocal hints of Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan or Billy Corgan. MOOSSA moves easily between different styles rocking hard when the time is right. The mix is spiced up with a heavy funk and reggae influence. Moossa is getting fired up to release their next CD STEP RIGHT UP. This ambitious 16 track work really defines what this Richmond VA based band is all about. Earthy roots reggae numbers entwined with scorching rock, funk, soul and ballads that came down from the hills. Eclectic for sure, coherent, edgy and yes, cool. In May 2005, Moossa rocked the Haymaker Festival, a jam band feast that included the Wailers, Victor Wooten, Soul Live, Particle, Keller Williams, Steve Kimock Band and Cephas and Wiggins. Earlier in the year the single "Reno" was chosen to appear on WNCW's select "Crowded Around the Mic" compilation featuring some of the country's top roots artists. Recently, MOOSSA landed their first movie synch deal with the reggae single "Dragon's Den". The band has played over 425 shows in the last 4 years! Look for a show near you in 2006.
