Fancy Press Release
The Performance Loft presents Out Of The Blue, an original work by Loft company member Marisa Wessler. Utilizing her smart and quirky theatrical inventiveness, Out Of The Blue chronicles Marisa’s cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery four years after the loss of her father to cancer. Marisa refers to Out Of The Blue as a “typical coming-of-age story, with cancer, baguette dances, and rock-n-roll.” This should give you a sense of her wry and ironic humor.
The Performance Loft is housed in Redlands’ historic Mitten Building, a turn-of-the-century brick and timber packing-house; and Out Of The Blue is performed amongst the beams and poles of the intimate third floor Loft space. Come and be moved by Marisa’s articulate physicality, her beautiful voice and her theatrical rendering of a powerful personal story.
Marisa has been a member of the Performance Loft for the past 4 years. She has played featured roles in the Loft productions of A House of Shoes, A Night at the Loft, The Threepenny Opera, and A Christmas Memory. Now, after graduating from UC Riverside Interdisciplinary Performing Arts program, dancing in numerous RCC’s dance concerts, and numerous performances as an Inland Empire theatre artist, Marisa creates an original work of theatre/dance/media that will make you laugh, cry and delight in the human spirit.
A portion of the proceeds from each performance will directly benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services.
Note: Directly following the performance will be Q&A session with the artist (and special guests TBD).
