He’s baa-a-ck. And it’s about time. Maybe that’s why entertainment entrepreneur/rapper Vell Venture titled his second release “Perfect Timing.†Like his debut album, Venture once again teamed up with beat-maker extraordinaire War from Dimensional Sound Studios, in Tampa. The beats are still bumpin’, and it’s evident that the chemistry between these two has grown. The sound is similar to the first album, but promises more mass appeal than “Ready 2 Ball.†Venture’s trademark witty lyrics dropped over these hot beats will have you hitting the repeat button and driving slow with the windows down.“Perfect Timing†showcases some familiar faces from the 941 area, but Venture has expanded his horizons and added some new artists that he’s not previously worked with. Shawd B and Speedy Whoa lend their street cred to the album, while well known up-and comers Cane and Sean Gates grace several tracks and add their immeasurable talent to the pool. Once again, Mr. Venture keeps in all in the family with newcomers Lil Chi-Town and Money Mark, his cousin and nephew respectively, and both artists, while new to the business, can hold their own in the studio. Also featured are seasoned veterans Virtuos CT, and everybody knows that when Virtous CT comes to town, they BRING it.While Venture is definitely an artist that enjoys the camaraderie of collaborations, he is undoubtedly the star of the show. The various featured artists add some dimension and depth to the album, however, the lyrical twists and turns and clever wordplay by Venture are what truly set this release apart from so many artists out there in the same genre.The commercialized rap of today can sometimes lack content and rely to heavily on artist popularity and in your face marketing to reach success. Venture is, and always has been his own person. By sticking to his instincts and making music that he can enjoy writing, rapping and listening to, not only can he relish in marching to the beat of his own drum, he can be confident the rest of us are dancing right along with him.
