"It looks like this is a great month for firsts, in terms of band locales - earlier, I listened to my first Latvian group, and now I'm writing about what is probably the first record from Venezuela that I've gotten. The record starts off a bit slowly with a four-minute instrumental tune, but the remainder of the album is much more enjoyable. They remind me a lot of the British bands that toe the line between melodic and noisy indie rock, like Seafood, the Delgados and Spraydog (with the latter springing to mind especially during the simultaneous boy/girl vocals in "Todo Es Números"); however, the Spanish lyrics also make me think of similar-sounding bands from Spain, particularly Mercromina and Los Planetas. The songs on this record have a fairly wide variety of sounds, from the short and catchy pop of "Contratando A Un Vigilante" and "Cantar El TÃtulo" to the lighthearted, casio-inflected "Hogar" to the more subdued elegance of "La Hora Perfecta" and "Un Déficit Cultural". As for the packaging, the disc comes in a handmade, silkscreened cloth sleeve, which is a nice touch!"
