IN THE NEWS: Probe reveals Universal Studios fire an accident (NEW YORK AP) UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - A Los Angeles County fire official says the fire that ripped through sets and attractions at Universal Studios has been ruled an accident.Capt. Mike Brown said Monday that a preliminary investigation has found that the fire that erupted about 4:30 a.m. Sunday was an accident. Brown has not revealed the specific cause. The fire began on a streetscape featuring New York brownstone facades at the 400-acre property. It then destroyed a King Kong attraction, the courthouse square from “Back to the Future” and a streetscape featured in “Spider-Man 2” and “Transformers.” IN THE NEWS: NFL grants limited reinstatement to Pacman Jones(USA TODAY) Pacman can unpack. Maybe he can even stay a while. The NFL reinstated Adam "Pacman" Jones on a limited basis Monday, making him eligible to take part in workouts with the Dallas Cowboys beginning Tuesday.Jones, a cornerback and kick returner, can also practice during training camp and participate in preseason games. A final determination on his 13½-month suspension will be made by Sept. 1, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. The Cowboys play their opener Sept. 7 in Cleveland.Jones was suspended April 10, 2007, after a number of arrests and legal problems. The Tennessee Titans traded him to the Cowboys in April for a fourth-round draft choice and a sixth-rounder in 2009."This limited reinstatement is a step in the process," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. "Adam is aware of the things that need to be done in order to take the next step."Pacman Jones, a first-round pick in 2005 (the sixth overall selection out of West Virginia), played two seasons for the Titans before his suspension. He met with Goodell on May 21 in Atlanta to discuss his chances of returning to the league. The NFL's letter to Jones indicated it expects him "to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement."He will find a crowded Cowboys secondary waiting for him. Terence Newman, a No. 1 pick in 2003, is one of the starters and the Cowboys also used a No. 1 pick in the April draft on Michael Jenkins.Jones has been arrested six times since entering the league and has been involved in 12 incidents requiring police intervention. He was present at a Las Vegas strip club shooting that left a club employee paralyzed during 2007 NBA All-Star weekend. He pleaded no contest Dec. 6 to conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct in a deal that reduced two felony charges of coercion stemming from the strip club shooting. The coercion charges each carried a possible sentence of one to six years in prison. In return, Jones agreed to tell police what he knew about the gunman. Jones never acknowledged any role in the shooting. The alleged gunman, Arvin Kenti Edwards, of Renton, Wash., was arrested in April after Jones picked him from a police lineup. Edwards is jailed in Washington pending extradition to Las Vegas.Jones also agreed to pay a $20,000 gambling debt to a Las Vegas casino to settle a criminal complaint alleging the suspended NFL player wrote three bad checks. His problems began in college. Jones was sentenced to a year in prison for a bar fight, but the sentence was later suspended in exchange for two years of probation. His game-breaking talents have never been in question, and the Cowboys are considering whether to give him some snaps at receiver. He led the NFL in punt return average (12.9) in 2006, taking three kicks back for touchdowns. He also intercepted four passes, returning one 83 yards for another score. But his off-field problems caused too many distractions and led the Titans to part ways with him. It's possible the commissioner is counting on the Cowboys and their player development staff to keep Jones in check. The team helped defensive tackle Tank Johnson return from a similar suspension last season and has successfully dealt with other troubled players.Jones moved to Dallas recently and already has been hanging out with teammates and working out in the area. He's also started bonding with Johnson, both knowing they are down to their last chance with the NFL."The important thing is getting him here and getting him acclimated," Johnson said. "I have told him you are a good kid, we know you and we're looking forward to having you on the team and we're excited about you proving everybody wrong."FIND MORE STORIES IN: Washington | Atlanta | Cleveland | Las Vegas | West Virginia | Dallas Cowboys | Tennessee Titans | Terrell Owens | Adam | Jerry Jones | Tank Johnson | Pacman Jones | Michael Jenkins | Renton | Felix Jones | NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell | Bradie James | Arvin Kenti Edwards The Cowboys could use another good cornerback, but they're not hanging their hopes on Jones now that Jenkins is in the fold, too. Jenkins and fellow first-rounder Felix Jones also can handle kick returns if Pacman isn't around — or even if he is.Basically, the team isn't getting its hopes up, considering Pacman's availability a bonus."If (Pacman) can come out and help us here, great," said linebacker Bradie James, the defensive captain last season. "But if he doesn't, we've got enough guys to make it happen."Jerry Jones has even talked about using Pacman as an extra wide receiver. That's fine by Terrell Owens, who expects Pacman to be committed to staying out of trouble."I think now with a year out of football, he has to really put his life and career in perspective," Owens said. "I haven't seen him play offense. Obviously he has some return skills. Any time you can get a guy like him to get their hands on the ball, it's going to help your offense."Newman is looking forward to the help, too."We're all waiting for him to get here. The sooner the better," Newman said. "It will definitely be a little shock when he gets back because the speed of the game is what you're not used to. You can play basketball, can do a lot of things, but you can never simulate going against a receiver, pressing a guy and having a guy run full speed at you."Secondary coach Dave Campo expects Jones to adapt quickly. Campo figures the biggest obstacle will be learning Dallas' terminology. Jones wasn't allowed to have a playbook while banned from the facility."Pretty much, coverage is coverage," Campo said. "I've looked at some tape of him and I've put a couple tapes together for him when he comes in to show him some stuff. But I saw him up close and personal in Jacksonville. He beat us single-handedly in a game ... so I know him pretty well."VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Throwback – Remember Kidd Video from the 80’s?
