Leyla Fahada and Zaira al Zahara are the co-directors of this MD/DC/VA area bellydance duo formed in Fall 2006. With over 9 years (and counting) combined bellydance experience, we create original choreographies and also improvise, most notably in our performances with the Baltimore-based world-fusion band Telesma .
Indra Lazul is at ease performing on stage, interacting with an audience, or as wandering entertainers. We regularly work with prerecorded and live music ranging from tradtional Arabic bellydance music to modern rock and pop songs.
Indra Lazul has danced at a variety of venues including Rakkasahs East and West, Mia Naja's Moments of Magic Hafla, The 5 Seasons Haflas, Arabian Nights at The Decoy Lounge, and Arabian Nights at Casablancas.
Our dance is drawn from Egyptian, American Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, Turkish, Tunisian and Folkloric styles. We also incorporate veil, sword, cane, zils, floorwork, percussive drum solos and taqsim movements into our work. In terms of style and costuming we are adaptable and can range from Tribal Fusion to American/Egyptian Cabaret.
