It may not be obvious to many what the above number represents. It's large and powerful, yet in this instance, incredibly sad. Every year, in the United States, over 5,000,000 healthy and adoptable pets are euthanized. Why would the most powerful country in the world do such a thing? There is one only simple reason -- there are not enough homes.
Shelter and rescue organizations in this country are brimming with unwanted, stray and homeless pets. Please do your part to help alleviate this problem. With everyone understanding the issue, doing their part to care for their pets like family members, and utilizing resources like Petfinders, Pets 911, and others search engines that help unite adopters with rescued pets.
Finally please spay and nueter...that is the answer!
