Funk and jazz quartet Grimace was formed in 2004 and is the brainchild of seasoned jazz guitarist Rob Carey. The band features some of the region’s most in demand session and live performance artists – Justin Brown (bass – Daryl Flemming, Crawlin’ Low Band), Don Roehlich (Sax – Ploughman’s Lunch, Karl Mullen Band, Carsickness), and Shaun Gilmour (Drums – The Scoville Unit, The New Alcindors, Happy Accidents).
High-energy performances and exploratory improvisational arrangements of original compositions and audience favorites like James Brown, Miles Davis, John Scofield and the Meters are why Grimace is in demand on the club scene. The band regularly performs at some of Western Pennsylvania’s top venues, including the Thunderbird Café, The Shadow Lounge, and the Pittsburgh Deli Company. And have been featured artists on the festival circuit, performing at LumberJam II and Jam for the South. Grimace also received national acclaim in 2005 by being selected as a Staff Pick on the Audio Archive (Archive.org) along with Cracker and the Radiators.
Grimace is proud to be managed by Funkhouse Artists. For booking or further information please contact Chris at Funkhouse Artists – funkhouseartists @ yahoo . com
