About Me

Ezekiel, son of famous mosaic artist Isaiah, started his musical career at 13 playing with the punk band Flag of Democracy. The band broke up after one record, but Ezekiel was more determined than ever. So he started the band in conjunction with Chuck Treece and Tristan Reignear and called it McRad. After one international hit the band exploded onto the scene. The hit was called ‘No Guns’. It was a message of peace written by a Rasta man named Timmy Tanzania. That catapulted them into the main league of punk and reggae music. Having opened gigs for Black Uhuru and punk bands like Minor Threat and Bad Brains, the band was really on its way. But because of the fact that one of the musicians was an illegal alien, the band had to break up. So Ezekiel went out on his own, starting bands like Lions of Oppression, which would pack the house with over 1,000 people, and then finally starting Ezekiel’s Wheal. During this time, his favorite band was Gil Scott Heron and the Midnight Band, who he listened to for 20 years. One day, he happened to meet the percussionist, Larry McDonald, in 1998, 15 years after starting his musical career. Larry and Ezekiel immediately became great friends because of their affinity for both loving the healing powers of corn. After 3 years of closeness, Brian Jackson came into the picture. And then tragically, Gil Scott Heron was arrested and sent to jail for terms Ezekiel would rather not speak about due to respect for his privacy. But at that moment, Ezekiel, Brian, and Larry decided it was time to start a band together. Then they added Ed Brady on guitar, Rob Gordon on bass, Dave Han as musical director, and Ronnie Murphy on drums (better known for his work with Jimmy Cliff), and Macy Gray’s horn section. And in two days, they busted out this record that they call Nama Scara Grace.
